—Your Visit
Not a visit.
A commitment.
Two days or eight, Nam Tien Lake puts you within sight of a working conservation centre — not a show. Every stay funds the hospital, the herd, and the reserve that sustains them.
—Why visit ECC
The ethical alternative, in practice
This is not a photo-op with elephants. Every activity is observation-led: no riding, no bathing elephants for entertainment, no forced interaction. You walk the same forest trails as Laos’ largest herd under human care, guided by the mahouts, vets and biologists who work with them every day.
ECC is the only facility in Asia to hold the Conservation Gold Award from the Asian Captive Elephant Standards, and the only one in Laos with a working elephant hospital, a breeding programme, and an active rewilding record. Your visit does not interrupt the conservation work here — it funds it.
- Hands-off, observation-led — no riding, no forced contact
- Only Conservation Gold Award holder in Asia (Asian Captive Elephant Standards)
- Guided by the same mahouts, vets and biologists who run the hospital and breeding programme
- 66 staff, ~92% Lao — your visit funds local jobs, not just conservation
—Our programmes
Six programmes. Six different reasons to come.
These are not the same trip in different lengths — each programme is built around a different kind of access, from a single unforgettable night to a week spent thinking like ECC’s own research team.
